School will be back in session soon. Seems that when summer break begins the days seem endless before our kids head back to class. But the first day of school is right around the corner. I can already hear the kids talking about seeing their friends, wondering what the new school year will bring, what kind of backpack to purchase and what their new teacher will be like. What parents are interested in is where do they get the information needed for educational choices, and resources to make the right decision about their children's education.

The ParentGuide® has researched agency resources to help Tampa Bay parents with their search for private schools and accrediting agencies. We found that there are numerous agencies that accredit private schools and several companies that carry lists of private schools. However, very few that offer easy navigation and up to date information. Two very informative and helpful sites are the Florida Department of Education and Florida Smart. The link to the Florida Department of Education offers an explanation of accreditation and refers to the various accrediting boards for private schools and their web sites. FloridaSmart.com offers lists of private schools in Hillsborough, Pasco and Pinellas to help parents for their search on individual private schools.
