Take Summer Vacation on the Road

Ever considered taking the whole family on the road in an RV?  Well anyone, even beginners, can go camping or sight seeing for a fun, memorable and affordable summertime adventure.

But if driving a 31- or 40-foot house on wheels seems a little intimidating, a local company, Suncoast RV Rentals and Mgt., can take the mystery and fear out of vacationing in an RV.

“We offer a free 90-minute driving lesson, plus we spend quality time showing a customer how to operate the RV’s many features.  First timers are wary of the sanitary system, but it’s all very easy,” said Wallace Williams, the company’s owner.

“Kids have the best time helping mom and dad pick out their coach.  They love the novelty an RV offers and hate to give it up at the end of the trip.”

So with families looking for cheaper vacations this year, how affordable is affordable?  Suncoast has coaches to fit different budgets, but it’s possible to rent an RV that sleeps five to six people for seven days for around $1,250, plus a fully refundable deposit of $500 or $1,000 depending on the coach.  You get 1,000 miles free and then it is 24 cents a miles after that.  Wallace says with gas, a family can plan on spending around $2,000 depending on how far they go and how much they rely upon the generator.  This doesn’t include campground fees, food and entertainment.

If this sounds intriguing so far, where can you go?  Wallace says many families use RVs to camp at Disneyworld, but there are also a number of excellent state parks for a local back-to-nature vacation.  Pinellas County’s Fort De Soto campground, with its award-winning beach, is a very popular camping destination.

Just recently the St. Petersburg Times published a story on the best camping spots in Florida.  To read their recommendations, go to http://www.tampabay.com/features/travel/florida/article984743.ece

If you have a large family or plan to take the neighbor’s kids along, Suncoast has one coach that sleeps nine.  All their coaches have awnings, slideouts, TVs, and 24-hour road service.  Not all companies offer these features, so be sure to ask when shopping around.  Another great feature:  none of RVs in the Suncoast fleet of 18 have advertising on the sides.  “They don’t look like rentals and that makes a big difference to people who don’t want to stand out in the campground,” added Wallace.

Helping families have a positive experience with their RV is a priority for Wallace and his wife Marlene.  “We have the coaches all cooled and ready to go when a family arrives.”  They will gladly answer any and all questions.  They recommend you make reservations at least three to four weeks in advance and customers must call first for an appointment.

Happy camping!
