- Reading Tree. Leafing through books has never been so much fun! To encourage your kids to keep reading through school breaks and summertime, post a "reading tree" on your refrigerator. Tape a bare tree trunk and limbs made of construction paper to the fridge. For each book that the children read, tape a new construction-paper leaf onto the tree. Write the book's name and author on each leaf. The kids will love seeing the tree fill out and by the end of school break, you will have created a very full tree!
